I was disappointed with this image. I understand ChatGPT generates images based on existing data, and since African American male K-12 teachers are underrepresented in the teaching profession, fewer references are available to create accurate depictions. This lack of representation in educational imagery and datasets makes it challenging for AI models to generate diverse and authentic portrayals. As a result, AI-generated images may not always fully capture the depth and nuance of African American male teachers in diverse classrooms. Hopefully, with time and the advancement of technology, more references will be available.
